Froogle is now part of Google Base. Google base is a wide open database system that allows listing of almost anything. From services found locally to products sold on line to real estate. There are two ways to ad products once you sign up at base.Google.com. Either one at a time or with a data feed. One at a time is very easy to do even for a novice but larger stores will need to use a feed to simplify and speed the whole process up. Several shopping carts have feeder script already installed or available as a plug in. You can however download the template available and follow the example. This part may be out of the abilities of many DYI'ers so get a good programmer or use a cart that has it already built in. You can schedule Google Base to visit a directory on a monthly or a daily basis. Posted content is searchable using the Google Base search engine which is the shopping tab when you're at the main Google site, and may also be included in other Google main return in the "onebox" area. This returns three items the store name and price right at top and is a prized position as it is free top listings in Google. Google Base is a pretty logical extension of Google's twin strategies. Their stated goal is to make all the world's information accessible (not just searchable). Google base is simply collecting more "parameters" about a "listing" (could be anything) that will allow a search to more easily find that which he is looking for. If someone doesn't have a web presence they will allow the user to host the listing at Google. Google Base is a great resource to help distribute and share information with others that you would not otherwise know how to reach. With Google Base, your information is almost instantly added and viewable by people searching for your items. This really works! We've seen 200% and more increase in sale overnight.
